Creating cross-cultural appreciation and understanding of Hispanic culture

National Hispanic Cultural Center

Dancers perform in the Albuquerque Journal Theater at the National Hispanic Cultural Center.

Located in Albuquerque’s historic and culturally vibrant Barelas neighborhood along the banks of the Rio Grande, the National Hispanic Cultural Center is dedicated to the preservation, promotion, and advancement of Hispanic culture, arts, and humanities.

The center's 20-acre campus is home to the Roy E. Disney Center for Performing Arts, a dynamic art museum, research library, genealogy center, restaurant, and Torreón featuring one of the largest frescos in North America. As a major player in Albuquerque’s cultural scene, the center presents art, history, and literary exhibitions, theater, music and dance productions, classic and contemporary films, and family and school events, along with readings and book signings by renowned authors and poets. In addition, Spanish language classes are offered at all levels for the public through the prestigious Cervantes Institute.

Popular recurring events at the center include Happy Arte Hour, Bilingual Storytime, Festival Flamenco Albuquerque, and Días and Noches de Familia.
